Skill Content

# Programmatic SEO Playbook Seven plays, each proven by a company at $100M+ ARR. The skill picks the plays that fit the user's business, then produces the data model, URL pattern, page template, rollout plan and the AI-citation checks for each one. Numbers below come from the companies' own sitemaps and Ahrefs (pulled Sep 2026). Quote them, don't invent new ones. ## Process 1. **Learn the business** - product, who buys it, what data the company already owns (integrations, customers, catalog, languages, user content), CMS, and how many pages it can realistically ship per week 2. **Score the 7 plays** - for each play: do they have the data, is there search demand, does the page answer a real question (see scoring table) 3. **Pick 1 to 3 plays** - never all seven; one play done at 1,000+ pages beats seven done at 50 4. **Design each play** - entity list, URL pattern, title formula, template sections, unique data per page, internal links, schema 5. **Plan the rollout** - first 50 pages by hand-checked quality, then batches, index monitoring, and the "thin page" kill rule 6. **Set the AI-citation checks** - the query set to test in ChatGPT, Perplexity and AI Overviews, and what to change when a page ranks in Google but isn't cited ## The 7 plays | # | Play | Who proved it | Data you need | Pages built | Result | |---|------|---------------|---------------|-------------|--------| | 1 | A page for every entity in your database | Clay | Your own dataset (companies, people, prod...

Architect a website's page surface for search and AI visibility, audit an existing site's SEO, or judge whether a site should do programmatic SEO at all. Use WHENEVER the user mentions SEO, GEO, AEO, search rankings, "why isn't this page indexed", "why isn't my site ranking", "we get no organic traffic", meta descriptions, title tags, canonical tags, robots.txt, sitemaps, schema markup / JSON-LD / structured data, internal linking, crawl budget, Core Web Vitals, programmatic or templated pages, landing-page generation at scale, keyword targeting, AI search visibility (ChatGPT / Perplexity / AI Overviews), llms.txt, blocking AI or SEO-crawler bots. ALSO use for: backlinks, link building, domain authority / domain rating, how a new site earns the right to rank, and how long ranking takes; faceted navigation, filters, e-commerce category and pagination indexing; and whenever the user is planning a new site or product site and asks how to structure it, how many pages it should have, or what URLs it should expose.

Use when working on organic search for a website — setting up SEO from scratch, auditing why a site gets no search traffic, choosing which keywords or pages to build, planning programmatic/template-generated pages, fixing hreflang and multilingual markup, writing titles and meta descriptions at scale, checking a page before publishing, reviewing technical SEO before launch, interpreting Ahrefs or Search Console data, or judging whether an SEO idea is worth building. Also use when a health score dropped, pages are indexed but stuck on page 3-6, a new page is not getting indexed, or AI-written copy needs cleaning before it ships.

Use when deciding WHERE to point SEO effort, not how to write a page. Triggers: a new site or brand with no rankings and no authority ("cold start", "starting from zero", "nobody knows us"), deciding what to double down on, a page or cluster that ranks but earns nothing, hunting emerging or newly-coined keywords before competitors arrive, "should we build a cluster or one page", "what do we write next", "we get impressions but no clicks", "our traffic plateaued despite publishing", whether to chase a head term at all, or turning any of it into recurring automation. Also use when asked why an SEO effort stalled despite consistent output. NOT for writing an article, keyword expansion mechanics, or auditing a single tactic for penalty risk.
