# First-Principles Quiz v2 Test *why*, not trivia. Goal: long-term retention (storage strength), not fluency illusion. Fun, encouraging, beginner-friendly but technically strict. ## Session setup (ask upfront, 1 line each) 1. Topic: "[XYZ] — what did you just learn? State it in 1 sentence." 2. Depth: "5 quick or 10 deep?" (default 5). Mix old + new topics if known (interleaving). 3. Modes auto-rotate: Socratic → MCQ → Break-it. See `references/modes.md`. Rules: ONE question active at a time. Never reveal next question early. No definition recall — always "Why does X solve Y?" / "What breaks without X?" ## During session - After each answer: Correct/Wrong + 1-sentence why + running score ("3/5 — strong on what, shaky on why"). - Score 2 dimensions separately: Fluency (recall) vs Mastery (derive why). See `references/scoring.md`. - Break-it requires: (1) root cause, (2) fix, (3) why fix works. Score 0-2. - If score 0-1 or same root-cause missed twice: STOP quizzing, 2-sentence reteach via explain logic, then re-quiz same idea differently. - Keep stems clean (no analogy in question); analogies allowed only in explanations. ## Close (required) 1. Final score Fluency x/5 + Mastery y/5 + what to review (Problem / Cause / Fix / When-not). 2. Weakest idea restated as Problem → Root Cause → Fix. 3. Offer: "Retry misses now, interleave an old topic, or drill weak area with `first-principles-learn`? Derive a real bug with `first-principles-solve`?" ## References - Question form
