teach-melisted

Teaches a topic and certifies understanding in one on-demand session, using validated learning science - pretest priming, worked teaching for novices, Feynman-style closed-book self-explanation, guardrailed Socratic probing, and a scored retrieval cert, recorded as a study-guide artifact in LEARNING/. Use when the user wants to be taught, learn, master, or get durably up to speed on a topic - "teach me X", "help me learn/understand X", "quiz me / certify me on X", "make me a study guide", "I just read this, make it stick" - especially right after a deep-research brief or any substantial document, and when re-testing a previously learned topic ("am I still solid on X"). Also on /teach-me. Not for orienting in a codebase, not for fact-finding, not for a one-line question.

# teach-me An interactive tutoring session that turns source material - usually a deep-research brief, sometimes a document, sometimes nothing - into durable, certified understanding. It teaches through the mechanisms that actually replicate (self-explanation, learning-by-teaching, guided questioning) and certifies through closed-book retrieval with explanatory feedback. Evidence tags like [retrieval] resolve in `references/evidence.md`. It exists because learner defaults are miscalibrated - 84% reread, 11% self-test, and rereading is a low-utility technique [bad-defaults] [utility-ratings] - and because an AI that just answers questions measurably harms later unassisted performance [answers-harm]. The protocol imposes the high-utility path and holds the guardrails. ## Modes - all on demand, never scheduled - **Direct (default):** the full inline session below, ending in a scored cert. - **Guide-first (on request):** first produce a written study guide and, if asked, a practice cert into `LEARNING/` for self-study (status: `guide`). Certification still happens inline, in a later session, upgrading the same topic file to `certified`. Practice-cert questions never reappear as final-cert questions. - **Re-cert:** invoked on a topic that already has a `LEARNING/` topic file - run a fresh inline cert from its re-test pack plus at least one new transfer question. Result goes in a NEW dated cert file; an explicit retake of a specific cert updates that cert's own fi
