business-strategy

Solid

Route a founder problem to the right business framework, then load that framework on demand. Distills 14 business books (customer discovery, positioning, pricing, sales, growth, persuasion) into scored, decision-tree skills. Use when you say diagnose my business problem, what framework applies, how do I validate demand, price this, position this, generate leads, or close deals. Do NOT use for software design (use the engineering rules) or for a single named decision (use decision-critic).

# Business Strategy The front door to a 14-book business-strategy pack. A founder arrives with a felt problem ("sales are flat", "nobody replies", "I do not know what to build") and no idea which framework applies. This skill names the real problem, routes to the one reference that addresses it, and refuses to guess when the symptom is ambiguous. Each reference is an original distillation (decision tree, scored checklist, honest limitations, cross-book conflicts, worked example) of one book. They are loaded on demand: read only the one this router points you to. ## When to use Start here whenever the problem is a symptom ("growth stalled") rather than a named method ("run SPIN Selling"). If you already know the framework, skip the router and read its reference directly. ## Triggers | Trigger phrase | Action | |----------------|--------| | `diagnose my business problem` | Walk the decision tree below | | `what framework applies` | Walk the decision tree below | | `validate demand or find customers` | Start with mom-test; use four-steps only after interview evidence names a repeatable buyer | | `price or position this` | Route to monetizing-innovation for price pain, or obviously-awesome for category confusion | | `get leads or close deals` | Route to 100m-leads for lead volume, or spin-selling for qualified pipeline stalls | ## Decision tree: symptom to reference Route on the dominant symptom. If two apply, take the earliest funnel stage: an upstream positioning proble...

improve-business

Guided journey from a stalled, plateaued business to one with an honest diagnosis, a working operating rhythm, and offers repriced to real value. Orchestrates eight skills phase by phase - good-strategy-bad-strategy, traction-eos, high-output-management, team-topologies, drive-motivation, lean-analytics, negotiation, monetizing-innovation - asking the user questions at every decision point and recording results in the project docs/ folder (STRATEGY.md, OPERATIONS.md, METRICS.md, IMPROVE-BUSINESS-PLAN.md) so the journey resumes across sessions. Use when the user wants to fix a business that has plateaued, diagnose why growth stalled, tighten strategy and execution, re-motivate a team, or says 'revenue is flat and I do not know why'. Starting from scratch with no customers: use create-business. Once the fundamentals work and the goal is expansion: use grow-business. When the product itself drags the business down: use improve-app. For one framework in isolation, invoke that skill directly.

create-business

Guided journey from raw idea to a validated, positioned, priced business with a chosen beachhead. Orchestrates ten skills phase by phase - jobs-to-be-done, mom-test, design-sprint, lean-startup, good-strategy-bad-strategy, blue-ocean-strategy, obviously-awesome, hundred-million-offers, monetizing-innovation, crossing-the-chasm - asking the user questions at every decision point and recording results in the project docs/ folder (CUSTOMER.md, POSITIONING.md, OFFER.md, CREATE-BUSINESS-PLAN.md) so the journey resumes across sessions. Use when the user wants to start a new business, validate a startup idea, find product-market fit before building, or says 'I have an idea for a company'. Do not use once the business has paying customers: use grow-business to add revenue and customers, or improve-business to fix strategy and operations. For building the product itself use create-app or create-website. For one framework in isolation, invoke that skill directly.

business-brainstorm

When you want to pressure-test a potential new business, product, or side project against the serial-founder filter. Not "marketing ideas for a product" (that's marketing-skills:marketing-ideas) — this is "should this business exist + can you win it." Runs the idea through a structured framework (problem, audience, wedge, monetization, moat, portfolio fit, distribution, energy fit, opportunity cost), checks domain availability via /domain, optionally triggers /deep-research for market validation, and outputs a viability brief: build / sleep on it / pass. Archives every idea to ~/.config/makerskills/business-brainstorm/archive/ so past work is searchable. Triggers on "/business-brainstorm," "/brainstorm," "new business idea," "should I build X," "pressure test this idea," "validate this idea," "is X a good business," "what about a [type] for [audience]."
