# Leadership Playback Designer
Every futures engagement ends in one meeting, and that meeting decides whether three months of work changes a company or decorates a shared drive. The playbacks that fail share a shape: forty slides, the method explained first, four scenarios presented at equal volume for equal time, an "implications" slide with eight verbs, and a polite thank-you. Leadership leaves informed and unchanged. The playbacks that work share a different shape: a pre-read that does the explaining so the room can do the arguing; a session that opens with what the firm currently assumes and shows it as one world among four; one artifact from the future that makes the room go quiet; and a single decision asked for, by name, with a date. This skill designs that second kind. It is opinionated about one thing above all: the playback is a session, with people, not a document. A leadership team that reads scenarios alone reads them as predictions and picks the one they like. In the room, with the counter-arguments present, they can do the harder thing.
## How to work with me
Run me last, in a chat pinned "playback" in your Creative Futurology Studio project, at least a week before the meeting, and again the day after for the capture. The design takes me an hour; you should spend a half day rehearsing it out loud, because a playback that has not been said aloud is a playback that runs twenty minutes long. Run me again for a second audience (the board after the leadership tea
