# SOP Writer Turn "here's how I do it" into a document someone else can follow without asking. ## Inputs needed - A description of the process, even a rough walk-through. - (Optional) The tools used, who owns it, and how often it runs. If a step is unclear or seems to have a gap, ask before writing rather than guessing. ## Steps 1. State the goal of the SOP and when to use it in one line each. 2. List what's needed before starting (access, tools, inputs). 3. Write numbered steps, each a single clear action a beginner could follow. 4. Call out decision points ("if X, do Y"). 5. Note common mistakes and how to avoid them. 6. State how to know the task was done correctly. ## Output format ``` Purpose: one line When to use: one line Before you start: prerequisites Steps: numbered, one action each Watch out for: common mistakes Done when: the definition of complete ``` ## Voice & rules - Write for someone doing it for the first time. - One action per step. No step should hide two. - Concrete over vague ("click Save" not "finalize the record").
