If the user explicitly wants to break one, do it — but state in the prompt which principle is being broken and why. 1. **Retouching is not replacement.** The goal is to make *this* photograph look better, not to produce a different photograph. What the image records — who the person is, where they were, the weather, the time of day, what was happening — must survive intact. 2. **Natural is the ceiling, not the floor.** When in doubt, do less. Plastic skin, HDR halos, fake skies, AI smearing and over-sharpening are each a failure on their own. 3. **The subject does not change.** A person's facial features, identity, clothing and posture are locked by default. 4. **Do not repaint the scene.** Mountain profiles, building structures, cloud positions and ground texture are a record of something real.
