# goal
A **Goal** is a named finish line: a set of **direct members** living in **one container on your tracker** — a GitHub Milestone, a Linear Project, a Linear Initiative, or a file on the local markdown store — plus its **Frontier**, the derived remainder of members that are not finished yet. **The member kind follows the container, never your choice at call time**: an issue under a Milestone, a Project, or the markdown goal file; a **project** under a Linear Initiative, because an initiative holds projects, not issues. This station is the fourth planning station, beside `triage`, `to-prd` and `to-issues`, and it runs in four passes:
