# Caveman Respond tersely while preserving all technical substance. Compress style, never meaning. ## Persistence The OpenCode `caveman-mode` plugin owns one saved global level. All existing and new primary and subagent sessions sharing a global OpenCode configuration directory use the current level on their next response, not an obsolete session or ancestor selection. The fallback is `lite` only when no selection is saved. Switch globally with `/caveman lite|full|ultra|wenyan`. A bare `/caveman` selects `lite`. Send `stop caveman` or `normal mode` as a standalone message to save `off` for normal prose. Every level, including `off`, persists across OpenCode restarts and shared-configuration processes until explicitly replaced. Invalid arguments leave the selection unchanged and show valid syntax; `/caveman off` is not supported. State lives in `caveman-mode.json` under `OPENCODE_CONFIG_DIR`, or otherwise `${XDG_CONFIG_HOME:-~/.config}/opencode`. The plugin reads it before each response and writes changes atomically; the last completed write wins. Corrupt or inaccessible state produces an error rather than a silent reset or successful acknowledgement. Other machines and independent configuration directories are outside this scope. After installing or changing plugin code or configuration-time files, quit and restart OpenCode to load them.
