# Lead Sourcing ## Overview A list is the highest-leverage input in outbound. Message quality has a ceiling set by targeting quality: the best copy sent to a wrong-fit list underperforms mediocre copy sent to a right-fit one. This skill produces a scored, deduped, enriched prospect list with a written ICP behind it — never a raw scrape handed straight to a sequencer. Work in this order: **define → source → enrich → dedupe → score → segment**. Skipping straight to sourcing is the single most common failure and it is not recoverable downstream. ## When to Use - User asks to "build a list," "find leads," "get prospects," or "who should we target" - Starting any outbound campaign, cold email, cold call, or SMS push - Auditing why an existing campaign has low reply or high bounce rates - Sizing a market before committing budget Don't use for: inbound lead handling (use `crm-pipeline-ops`), paid audience targeting (use `paid-media-buying`), or writing the outreach itself (use `cold-email-outbound`). ## Step 1 — Define the ICP Before Sourcing Write the ICP down as a table before touching any data source. If the user cannot answer a row, ask; do not guess. | Field | Example | |---|---| | Business type | Residential HVAC contractor | | Size band | 5–40 employees, $1M–$10M revenue | | Geography | Named metros or radius, not "nationwide" | | Buying trigger | Hiring techs, running ads, recent bad review streak, new location | | Decision maker | Owner / GM / Marketing Director —
