# Budget floor Most small-budget accounts are not badly optimised. They are running a machine that needs more events per week than the budget can buy, and every symptom follows from that. ## The arithmetic nobody does first Automated bidding learns from completed conversions. So the question is not "what is my budget", it is **how many conversions per week can this budget produce at all**: ``` weekly conversions = (daily budget x 7) / expected cost per conversion ``` Run it before launch. If the answer is a handful, an automated strategy has almost nothing to learn from and will keep re-entering its learning behaviour every time anything changes. Platforms publish volume expectations for their automated strategies, and those figures move — look up the current one rather than trusting a number from a blog or from this file. What does not move is the shape of the problem: **your budget sets a hard ceiling on the evidence the system can ever have.** ## What under-volume actually looks like These are routinely misdiagnosed as creative, audience or landing-page problems. | Symptom | Under-volume reading | |---|---| | Cost per conversion swings wildly week to week | Small denominators. Two conversions instead of four doubles it | | Bidding "never exits learning" | It is not stuck, it is starved | | Every change seems to make things worse, then better | You are reading noise as response | | Recommendations insist on raising budget | Sometimes self-serving, sometimes jus
