# Competitor Research
## Goal
Provide useful external context and competitive teardown without fabricating sources, scores, or claims.
## Workflow
1. Define the product decision the research must inform and the required recency window.
2. Identify 2-4 direct or adjacent competitors from context and state why each belongs in the comparison.
3. Choose comparison dimensions before researching: target user, job, workflow, pricing, positioning, feature depth, trust/safety, onboarding, integrations, GTM, analytics, support, mobile fit, accessibility, or operational model.
4. Use available search or browsing tools and record the research date.
5. Prefer primary sources for factual claims: official product pages, docs, pricing pages, help centers, release notes, app store listings, filings, or public API docs.
6. Use secondary sources only for market framing, commentary, or claims that cannot be verified from primary sources.
7. Capture source title, URL, publisher, publication or access date, observed fact, confidence, and whether the fact is inferred.
8. For flow teardown, capture entry point, required inputs, happy path, fallback path, permission or plan boundary, copy tone, and platform differences.
9. Score only dimensions with evidence. Do not create numeric scores for unsupported dimensions.
10. Separate observed facts from inference, product implications, and recommendations.
11. Mark unavailable, paywalled, stale, contradictory, or geographically limited information inst
