# PRD to Automation
One skill, three modes. It takes a project from a PRD to governance files, from governance to a generated `auto-develop.sh` pipeline, and audits both for drift. Each mode preserves the behaviour of its origin: **govern** is `prd-to-governance` 1.2.0, **automate** is `governance-to-automation` 1.2.2, **audit** joins the read-only audit parts of both. Every deliberate deviation from the origins is listed in the CHANGELOG. Those names appear in this skill only as provenance; never install or invoke them.
## Project root
One project equals one folder. The project root is the folder that contains the four governance files (automate, audit). For govern it is the folder that contains the PRD, except when the PRD sits in a documentation folder such as `docs/`, `docs/prd/`, `planning/specs/`, or `.github/` inside a git repository: then the default root is the repository's top-level folder (`git rev-parse --show-toplevel`), stated in one line before any work. Read and write only inside the root unless the user says otherwise. If the PRD lives outside the real project folder, sits in a documentation folder outside any git repository, or was pasted inline, stop and ask which folder is the project root before writing anything.
## Modes
| Mode | Writes | References to load |
|---|---|---|
| **govern** | `SOUL.md`, `AGENTS.md`, `CLAUDE.md`, `MEMORY.md`, `memory/completed-phases.md` | `references/govern.md`, `references/contract.md`; `references/audit.md` when govern
