# Cringe check Rate text on how much a teenager would wince, and say exactly which parts caused it. The vocabulary ships inside this skill, in the `data/` directory beside this file. Read `data/patterns.json` plus the pack matching the input language — `data/pack.json` for English, `data/pack.de.json` for German — resolving each against this skill's own directory. **If a Read fails, say so and stop.** A score invented from memory looks identical to a real one and is worth nothing — the citations (band, peak period) are the whole product here. ## What causes cringe In rough order of severity: 1. **Dead slang used sincerely.** A `fossil` or `cringe-zone` term deployed with a straight face. The worst offender by a distance — and note that the writer almost never knows, because these are exactly the terms that still sound current to adults. 2. **Slang stacking.** More than one term per clause. Nobody talks like that; it's the clearest tell of someone performing youth rather than being it. 3. **Adult register underneath.** Correct capitalisation, terminal full stops, "I think", inline hedging, 😂. Slang bolted onto adult syntax is more obvious than no slang at all. 4. **Explaining the joke.** Following a slang term with its definition, or a defensive "as the kids say". 5. **Wrong context.** Register that would be fine in a group chat and is not fine in a performance review. ## Output Open with a score out of 10 and a one-line verdict.
